Veqar-ul-Islam to Receive Award in Sydney Australia Veqar ul Islam previously Country Manager Pakistan, Afgha-nistan & Bangladesh of NCR and presently Managing Director, Nokia Pakistan, has been selected to receive the IT Professional of the year of Pakistan Award during SEARCC conference being held from September 28 to 30, 2005 in Sydney, Australia.

SEARCC is the overarching body for the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) societies in the region. Its objective is to provide a common platform for ICT practitioners in the region to gain access to professional development opportunities and share experiences in the implementation and the use of best practices in ICT. It was formed in 1978 and today it comprises of 13 member countries - Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan ROC and Thailand.
One of the many events scheduled around this conference is a Gala Dinner on Thursday, 29 September 2005 when the winners will be announced and honoured. The awards program is being held by participating Computerworld magazines from across the region.
The award winners will also be provided the opportunity to take part in panel sessions during SEARCC.
Veqar ul Islams selection has been made on his accomplishments in introducing new technology - the concept of integrated call centers and local contact center outsour-cing, setting up of Center of Expertise/ Global Consulting Center for NCR Europe, Middle East Africa region for data warehousing projects using local resources and leading the team of NCR Pakistan in achieving CMM Level V certification.
In IT education, Veqar has expanded the NCR Education Center and started the University Program on data warehousing with renowned Universities of Pakistan including LUMS, IBA, FAST, NUST, COMSATS etc.
To motivate the outstanding IT professionals of Pakistan, Veqar during his tenure with NCR, has popularized the NCR National IT Excellence Awards.
